Pelageya will perform at the anniversary festival WORLD OF Siberia Festival
The final list of honored guests who will perform at the XX International Festival of World Music and Crafts “WORLD OF Siberia” on July 11-14 in Shushenskoye has been announced.
On Friday, July 12, Pelageya, the most famous folk singer in the country and the Honored Artist of Russia, will perform on the main stage. This will be her third visit to the small Siberian village. She first appeared on the festival’s stage in the year of its fifth anniversary. Then there was a triumphant performance at the 15th festival, attracting a record number of spectators to the stadium. The twentieth “WORLD OF Siberia” and, by a happy coincidence, the eve of her own birthday, the native Siberian will again spend on the hospitable land of Shushenskoye, captivating listeners with her amazing voice, genuine sincerity and openness.
The next day, festival guests will have the opportunity to appreciate the multicultural project that has appeared on the Istanbul music scene. The group Light in Babylon brings together musicians from Great Britain, Israel, Iran, Turkey and France. With oriental instruments, a powerful voice and original lyrics by a charismatic soloist, the group creates unique compositions filled with exciting Mediterranean motifs and deep meanings. The music of the performers is designed to erase all boundaries and differences between people all over the world and, despite the differences in languages and cultures, to unite them into one big creative family.
Also, the Saturday concert program will include a performance by the winners of the 2023 “MIRA” World Music Award Competition – music band VDOME. This is a project of keyboardist and sound producer Vitaly Kis Jr. and vocalist Alexandra Tolstova. With their creativity they dream of awakening the interest of young people in musical folklore, and they succeed. The group performs folk songs from different regions of Russia, carefully weaving the spirit of modernity into tradition - elements of pop music, electronics and jazz. You will definitely love the cozy and bewitching repertoire!
On the final day of the festival we will rock out to Latin music, enjoying the timbre and energy of Iliana Sanchez. The singer was born on Liberty Island, so she feels and transmits the rhythms of Latin music like no one else. A participant of the Voice TV-Show on the 1st Channel and winner of the New Wave Competition, several years ago she created a project with guitarist Oleg Uleyev “Iliana Sanchez and the Rhythms of Havana.” In Shushenskoye the music band will perform traditional Cuban songs and world hits in Spanish in original arrangements.
Another discovery of the festival is the ethno-rock band “Nuker” from Buryatia. A year ago, the band acted as nominees for the “MIRA” World Music Award Competition, and this time they will be among the honored guests. The young artists perform ancient Buryat songs. Artists mine them like precious stones, frame them with their signature style and present them to listeners. The band members also write original compositions in their native language. Most often this is joint creativity; not without reason “Nuker” in translation from Buryat means “friend”.
The program of performances by the honored guests is published on the website www.festmir.ru.
We would like to remind you that earlier the festival management announced the names of five headliners.
These included the folk rock band from China DreamSpirit, the Russian electronic project Krasa Rosa, the creative alliance of festival jury members, the bold collaboration of the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic Russian Orchestra named after A.Y. Bardin and the Israeli singer SHIRAN, as well as the Krasnoyarsk “Muzikalnaya Narodnaya Druzhina” led by songwriter and virtuoso balalaika player Mikhail Kirillov.
