The names of the five headliners have been announced
At the XX International Festival of World Music and Crafts “WORLD OF Siberia” there will be concerts by ten headliners. They will perform on the main stage of the festival in Shushenskoye, Krasnoyarsk region, from July 11 to 14.
“The program of evening concerts at WORLD of Siberia festival includes performances by special guests from different countries. According to established tradition, the invited artists represent the direction of world music - a synthesis of folk music with other popular genres: rock, jazz, electronic and pop music. In our opinion, the combination of indigenous culture and innovation attracts an increasing number of spectators every year,” said Dmitry Sirotinin, Deputy Executive Director of the festival.
During the Year of Culture of Russia and China, guests from the Middle Kingdom will open the program of evening concerts of the festival. Obsessed with music and a strong love for ancient Chinese culture, rock stars Dream Spirit rank among their country's most popular folk metal acts. The artists are inspired by the musical traditions of the Han people, China's largest ethnic group. In the band's performances, heavy guitar riffs are skillfully combined with poetic lyrics and subtle aesthetics of Asian folklore. And the sonorous and pure voice of the soloist immerses listeners in the secrets of ancient legends and tells about the heroism of wandering warriors.
Also on Thursday, July 11, Krasa Rosa, an electronic project from St. Petersburg, will immerse viewers in the atmosphere of the festival. Notable experimenters and innovators skillfully combine modern dance music with live instruments, sounds of nature and Russian ethnic music. The group's arsenal includes: keys, guitar, duduk, flute, drums, percussion. Under soulful rhythms and enchanting vocals, guests will go into the world of dreams and fantasies, moving to the beat of incredible arrangements of acclaimed hits and exclusive unreleased tracks.
On the official opening day of the festival, all jury members will perform together for the first time, accompanied by the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic Russian Orchestra named after A.Y. Bardin. A special musical gift for the 20th anniversary WORLD OF Siberia festival is being prepared by the Sergei Starostin, famous folklorist, singer and performer on wind folk instruments, with his daughter Maria Lapshina, participant of The Voice TV project, as well as Albina Degtyareva, virtuoso khomus player of the world, artists Inna Zhelannaya and Arthur Marluzhokov, hereditary khoomeizhi Mongun-ool Ondar and Chirgilchin music band, Krasnoyarsk State Song Ensemble “KrasA” under the direction of Anatoly Khlopkov and also Konstantin Nekrasov, singer and ethnomusicologist. The alliance of performers will emphasize the family focus of the festival and the continuity of generations.
This year the Main Stage of the festival will become a place for real experiments. On Friday, viewers will see the birth of another new musical union - an Israeli singer with Yemeni and Iraqi roots, creating vibrant oriental electropop, will perform with an orchestra of Russian folk instruments. Participants of the incredible alliance are the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic Russian Orchestra named after A.Y. Bardin and SHIRAN. Festival fans are already familiar with the artist and her producer, DJ Ron Bakal. The artists came to Shushenskoye in 2022 and were remembered for Shiran’s powerful vocal, energetic dance mixes and bright Middle Eastern flavor. The orchestra from Siberia is famous for the virtuoso skill of its musicians and their willingness to embody the most daring creative ideas. The program with a DJ will be a premiere for the band and promises to change the understanding of the usual sound of traditional Russian instruments.
In addition, on July 12, folk lovers will enjoy songs of Siberians, flanking with sabers and axes, dancing, stunts and the crazy energy of the Muzikalnaya Narodnaya Druzhina (literally “Musical Folk Squad”). The team from the Krasnoyarsk region draws inspiration from the traditions of their native land. The group’s repertoire includes not only folk songs, but also original compositions about the endless taiga, mighty rivers, people and unity with nature. The compositions of the team leader Mikhail Kirillov have already become the hallmark of the entire region and will certainly be loved by audiences from different parts of the country.
