Performers from France, Serbia, and China to grace the "WORLD of Siberia" Festival this summer
The organizers of the 21st International Festival of World Music and Crafts "WORLD of Siberia" have announced the first five honorary guests who will perform from July 10 to 13 in Shushenskoye.
Perhaps the most anticipated event for festival fans this year is the concert by the French singer Morgan Ji. Dubbed the "Creole Queen" by the international press, she first took the Festival Main Stage in 2018. Her striking appearance, captivating vocal timbre, and energetic banjo-driven songs won the audience’s hearts so much that she returned by popular demand the following year. This time, Morgan Ji will perform alongside the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic Russian Orchestra named after A. Bardin. The concert will showcase songs from her new album in unique arrangements, alongside explosive hits from her band, including “Woman Soldier”, “Time Bomb”, and “Radio On”.
As part of the Russia-China Years of Culture, the band Mysterain from China will bring their distinctive sound to the festival in Shushenskoye. One of the country’s most renowned folk-metal groups featuring female vocals, their music is deeply influenced by Cantonese opera, marked by profound lyrics and rich historical references. Their unique fusion of traditional melodies and folk instruments with heavy guitar riffs and the lead singer’s pure, delicate voice makes their sound both captivating and unforgettable.
Among the international guests lighting up the stage will be Resavac Balkan Trio — a Serbian group specializing in World Music. They perform both original songs, inspired by the rich Balkan tradition, and compositions Emir Kusturica and Goran Bregović. With years of creative experience, these virtuosos effortlessly master even the most complex pieces. Remarkably, the band’s leader, Dule Resavac, plays 80 musical instruments! Fans will also recognize the exceptional skills of the keyboardist and guitarist from their work with The No Smoking Orchestra. The Serbian trio’s concert promises vibrant jazz improvisations infused with authentic Balkan flair.
Additionally, the concert program will feature laureates of the 2024 “MIRA” World Music Award Competition — the trio TARAXACUM from Samara. The "Dandelions" will delight the audience with fiery arrangements of folk songs from across Russia. Their repertoire includes not only the beloved "Porushka-Paranya" but also rare pieces collected during ethnographic expeditions. Get ready to sing along and dance!
The festival will also showcase local stars. Audiences from across the country will have the chance to experience the People’s Ensemble of Russian Song “Obereg” from Krasnoyarsk. Last year, these Siberian performers became finalists on the television competition “Star-2024” and their original song got into rotation on national radio. Among their recent achievements is reaching the finals of the international contest “New Wave 2025”, judged by the renowned composer and producer Igor Krutoy. The artists describe their work as a unique folk fusion infused with a touch of magic and unforgettable stage costumes - crafted by one of the ensemble’s members.
Let us remind you that all concerts of the International Festival of World Music and Crafts "WORLD of Siberia" are free to attend.
