The 21st International Festival of World Music and Crafts "WORLD of Siberia" was held from July 10 to 13 and over 4 days gathered 81,000 guests in Shushenskoye (Krasnoyarsk region).

The number of visitors and participants of the festival venues who shared their creativity, knowledge, and traditions is impressive. The festival brought together about 1,500 world music and dance performers, representatives of indigenous peoples, masters of decorative and applied arts, as well as entrepreneurs from Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Algeria, Armenia, Georgia, China, Cuba, Serbia and France on the hospitable land of Shushenskoye.

More than 25 hectares of ethno-interactive activities awaited music and craft lovers at the summer festival in Shushenskoye. At the same time, master classes, lectures, and concerts were held at various venues.

At the exhibition-fair "Town of Craftsmen" talented masters from more than 30 cities of Russia presented their products: Krasnoyarsk, Abakan, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Salekhard and many others.

Traditionally, one of the most important components of the festival were the crafts and ethnomusic competitions. For the main prize, the “MIRA” Cup stylized as an ancient cup, 50 nominees, skilled craftsmen and bright original performers who made folk culture an integral part of their lives, entered the fight.

Following the results of the competition performances, the Grand Prix of the “MIRA” World Music Competition was won by Moscow soloist Irina Tereshina.

“Jury members and I were captivated by the clearly thought-out story of how the person would come out, what he would talk about, what he would sing about. This story also included the attitude towards teachers and grandparents who initiated the interest in folklore tradition. A careful, respectful attitude, a correctly constructed program with references, with some compliments towards the roots and with very talented acceptance of this heritage. This is a general example, as it seems to me, for those who apply for WORLD of Siberia Festival”, - said Sergey Starostin, the jury chairman of the “MIRA” World Music Competition.

The creative project - Laboratory of instrumental music "Po tu storonu" was awarded the Small "MIRA" Cup in the World Music Competition. Young performers Andrey Kochetkov and Dmitry Slobodskoy live and work in Moscow, play in a duet on balalaikas, accordions, horns, experiment with traditional music and try to bring a modern look to its sound.

The winner of the 2025 “MIRA” Crafts Award was Ekaterina Suntsova from Udmurtia. Ekaterina presented a collection of outerwear in the traditional hand-weaving technique. According to Ekaterina, the design was inspired by nature.

This year, 9 new families were created at the festival. Thanks to the partnership with the Civil Registry Office of Krasnoyarsk region, wedding registrations were included in the festival program for the first time. Couples from Krasnoyarsk, Perm and Khakassia in national wedding costumes exchanged rings and received marriage certificates. The highlight was the presentation of traditional ceremonies - with braiding, towels, bows, dances, gifts and other ritual elements that our ancestors used for centuries.

Also, for the first time at the festival, the School of Creative Design from the Center for the Development of Creative Competencies of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and the Youth Council of the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk region worked for the nominees of the “MIRA” World Music Competition. During lectures and group sessions, participants raised the issue of the gap between the professional and amateur in the field of musical folklore. They proposed solutions, delved into project thinking and generational theory. Young people not only gained valuable experience, but also added their portfolios with certificates from the leading higher educational institution of Russia in the field of musical art.

The festival's infrastructure is also gradually changing. Thanks to the work carried out by the Shushenskoye District Administration with the participation of the Krasnoyarsk region Tourist Information Center, conditions for accommodating people with special needs have been created in the festival campsite. The first step of reconstruction of the campsite, paths were laid, a unique for our country mobile shower complex and toilet cabins for this category of guests were purchased. Future plans include continuing work to improve the accessibility and comfort of the territory.

As before, all concerts on the Main Stage were broadcast live on the festmir.ru website and on the festival’s social networks with the technical support of Rostelecom.
