The «WORLD of Siberia» ethno-festival has concluded in Shushenskoye

The International Festival of World Music and Crafts «WORLD of Siberia» was held for the 22nd time in the village of Shushenskoye, Krasnoyarsk Region. The live folk marathon gathered 83,000 visitors and became a truly family event over 4 days.

Sergey Ponomarenko, First Deputy Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region and Head of the Administration of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, welcomed the guests at the closing ceremony of the festival:

«Despite all the challenges, we have gathered again in this wonderful meadow. Tens of thousands of people have come here, and the weather has been favorable to us. I am confident that everyone present here has been filled with an incredible amount of energy, which they will carry with them throughout the year. We are all looking forward to this festival with anticipation, getting ready for it, coming here, enjoying this festival, and then for a very long time afterwards we will remember these vibrant moments».

More than 400 events were included in the festival program. For the first time, the «Toddler Starts» took place, bringing children, parents and grandparents for a joyful celebration where there were no losers. Eight couples from the Krasnoyarsk Region, Khakassia, and the Chelyabinsk Region tied the knot and officially registered their marriages at the «WORLD of Siberia». And during the festive gala concert, the friends of one of the contestants arranged a surprise for her and her husband, through which the couple found out the gender of their future baby - they are having a girl.

The geography of the festival participants stretched from Dagestan to Sakhalin, from Colombia to China. It was possible to meet representatives of India, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, France, Uzbekistan and other countries at various venues. Over two thousand tents were set up on the Recreation Island in Shushenskoye.

Forty-three finalists from 16 regions of our country took part in the festival's competition program. The artists demonstrated their talents on the Main Stage and the craftsmen exhibited their works to the jury and the visitors at the Museum-reserve «Shushenskoye». Based on the results of an intense creative contest, the experts determined the winners and prizewinners.

Marat Damdyn (Kyzyl, Republic of Tyva) won the Grand Prix of the «MIRA» Craft Award 2026. The craftsman presented national musical instruments in the «Traditional Crafts» nomination.

The winner among the nominees of the Grand Prix of the «MIRA» World Music Award was the soloist-vocalist Tuyara Alekseeva, a native of Suntar village in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), who introduced the festival guests to the unique Yakut epic.

The small «MIRA» Cup was awarded to eleven-year-old Agata Hovalyg. The young artist from Kyzyl participated in the children's age category and impressed the jury with her honesty regarding musical tradition.

Sergey Starostin, Chairman of the jury of the World Music Competition, folklorist and music producer, noted the special significance of the festival’s competitive program for those who promote folk culture: «There are few such multinational competitions. All the peoples inhabiting the Russian Federation can come here and present their art. And I don’t know of any other festivals where such a diverse, multinational jury is present. These are reputable people, each of them represents the culture of their own nation. In this sense, the «MIRA» World Music Competition is absolutely unique.»

The XXII International Festival of World Music and Crafts «WORLD of Siberia» has become part of the events dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

The Main Stage events were broadcast live. Recordings of the concerts of the contestants and honored guests are available on the festival’s website festmir.ru and on the festival's social media pages.

In 2026, the «WORLD of Siberia» received the patronage of the Russian Commission for UNESCO Affairs and was held with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The founder of the event is the Ministry of Culture of Krasnoyarsk Region, and the organizer is the Center for International and Regional Cultural Affairs.
